GREEN DAY

La mitica rock-band è formata da Billie Joe Armstrong (voce e chitarra), Mike Dirnt (basso e cori) e Tree Cool (batteria). Il gruppo nasce alla fine degli anni '80 con il nome di Sweet Children e aveva come batterista Al Sobrante. L'espressione Green Day definisce una giornata dedicata all'uso e all'abuso di marijuana.

I Green Day salgono al successo nel 1994 grazie all'album Dookie, che vendette oltre 14 milioni di copie. L'anno successivo esce Insomniac, in cui i testi, a differenza dell'album precedente, sono disincantati e angosciati e il suono è più duro.
Nel 2000 esce Warning e nel 2001 i Green Day decidono di fare uscire un loro best intitolato International Superhits! Dopo un po' di silenzio, la rock band torna in studio e registra American Idiot, definito il loro album politico, che sta continuando ad avere un enorme successo.
